Our

Beliefs

MISSION & VISION

Our mission is to create compelling environments in which people are developed into totally committed disciples of Christ. We envision a community of socially active, liturgically aware, culturally engaged, and gospel-driven disciples loving God and serving humanity.

The Church accepts the Scriptures as the revealed Will of God, the all sufficient rule of faith and practice, and for the purpose of maintaining general unity, adopts these Statements of Fundamental Truths and Doctrine.

We believe that the Holy Bible was written by divinely inspired men, that God is its Author, salvation is it’s purpose, and it is truth without any error; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge all mankind; it is the guide and standard for human conduct and the divine standard by which all men will be tried. Scriptural References: 2-Tim. 3:16-17; 2-Pet. 1:21; Prov. 30:5,6; Rom. 2:12; Phil. 3:16;

We believe there is only one true and living God, He is the infinite, intelligent Spirit whose name is Jehovah, the creator of Heaven and Earth, Ruler of everything. God is perfect and holy and worthy of all love, trust, honor and praise; that there are three-The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, united in the Godhead; equal, yet distinct but harmonious in executing the wonderful work of redemption. Scriptural References: John 4:24; Ps. 147:5; Ps. 83:18; Ex. 15:11; Mark 12:30; Rev. 4:11; Mat. 28:19-20; John 10:30; Eph. 2:18; 2-Cor. 13:14; Rev. 1:4-5.

The Voluntary Fall of

Mankind

We believe that mankind voluntarily fell from the holy state of creation; because of this all mankind are sinners before God and are justifiably condemned to eternal separation from God. Scriptural Reverences: Gen. 1:27; Rom. 5:19; Isa. 53:6; Eze. 18:19-20; Rom. 1:20.

The Source & Freeness of Salvation: We believe that through faith in Jesus Christ, grace is the only source of salvation for sinners. Jesus who is sinless took upon himself our sin and was obedient to death on the cross and made full atonement for our transgressions. Jesus was raised from the dead and is now seated in heaven on the right hand of the Father making intercession for us, and he is our all-sufficient Savior. The gospel of Jesus Christ makes salvation free to all who believe, and any and all persons can be saved regardless of their past sins.Scriptural References: Eph. 2:8; John 3:16; Isa. 42:40; Isa. 53:4-5; He. 1:8; He. 7:25; Isa. 55:1.

We believe that we are justified through Christ Jesus, and Justification includes pardon of sin, and the promise of eternal life. Through faith, God gives us credit for the righteousness of Christ, which brings us into favor with God, and obtains for us all the blessings we needed in time and in eternity. Scriptural References: Acts 13:39; Rom. 5:9; Rom. 5:17; Rom. 4:4-5.

We believe that in order for a person to be saved they must be born again. This New Birth is the work of the Holy Spirit and it consists of a holy disposition of the mind, which improves our understanding in connection with divine truth. The fruit of our life are evidence of the new birth. Scriptural References: John 3:3; 2-Cor. 5:17; John 3:8; 1-John 5:1; Gal. 5:22-25.

We believe that Repentance and Faith are accomplished in our souls by the powerful regenerating work of the Holy Spirit, wherein we turn to God with sorrow and remorse seeking His mercy; at the same time we receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Prophet, Priest and King, and we depend on Him for our eternal salvation. Scriptural References: Mark 1:15; Eph. 2:8; Acts 2:37-38; Rom. 10:9-11.

The Purpose of

Grace

We believe that by grace God has elected to regenerate, sanctify and save sinners while at the same time God will hold us responsible as free moral agents. This is a glorious display of God’s goodness being eternally free, possessing all wisdom, completely wholly and unchangeable. Scriptural References: 2-Tim. 1:8-9; Ex. 33:18-19; 1-Thess. 4:10; Rm. 8:28-31; 2-Pet. 1:10-11.

We believe that sanctification is a process whereby in compliance with His will God allows us to share in His holiness. By the power and presence of the Holy Spirit this work takes place in the hearts of believers. Scriptural References: 1-Thess. 4:3; 1-Thess. 5:23; Phil 2:12-13.

We believe that through faith in Jesus Christ we are once saved, and always saved, and that God watches over the welfare of His chosen people. Scriptural References: John 10:28-29; Rom. 8:28.

We believe that the eternal Law of God found in the Holy Bible is the rule for morality and that it is good, just, true and it is mankind’s duty to fulfill its precepts. The purpose of the Law and the Gospel is to deliver mankind from sin and restore a right relationship with the eternal God. Scriptural References: Rom. 7:12; Rom. 8:7-8; Rom. 8:2-4.

The New Testament

Church

We believe that the New Testament Church as founded by Jesus Christ is an assembly of Converted, Baptized believers, bound together by a covenant of duties and responsibilities. Guided by the commandments of Christ, the Church utilizes its Spiritual Gifts and strives to increase in the knowledge of God’s Word. Pastors and Deacons are the Church’s only scriptural officers; their qualifications are outlined in Paul’s letters to Timothy and Titus. Scriptural References: Acts 2:41-47; Eph. 4:7; 1-Cor. 14:12; 1-Tim. 3; Titus.

We believe that Jesus Christ gave the Church two ordinances–Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is complete water immersion of the Believer in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, as an emblem of our faith in the virgin birth, crucifixion, resurrection and the enthronement of Christ in Heaven at the right hand of God the Father. Baptism is a requirement for church membership and the Lord’s Supper, wherein church members make sacred use of bread and wine to celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Scriptural References: Matt. 28:19; Acts 2:41-41; Rom. 6:4; Rom. 8:24; Matt. 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 14:7-20; 1-Cor. 11:24-29.

We believe that the Christian Sabbath, the Lord’s Day, is the first day of the week and that the Church should set this day aside for religious observances including but not limited to: Training, worship, prayer, praise, fellowship and other religious activities related to the Church. Scriptural References: Psalm 118:24; Isa. 58:13-14; Acts 20:7; Heb. 1:24-25.

God must be first, nothing shall be made in His likeness, and Thou shall not take the name of the Lord in vain. The first day of the week is the Lord’s day and it shall be set aside for worship, praise and matters pertaining to the Lord’s service and His Church. Honor thy father and thy mother. Thou shall not commit adultery. Thou shall not kill, steal or bear false witness against anyone. Thou shall not desire another man’s wife, his house or anything else that he owns. Scriptural References: Ex. 20:1-17.

The Church

Covenant

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour; and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.

We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements,

and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.

We further engage to watch over one another in Christian love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rules of our Savior, to secure it without delay.

We moreover engage, that when we remove from this place, we will as soon as possible unite with some other church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
