Burnett Avenue Missionary Baptist Church Beliefs

Vision and Mission Statement
“We envision a community of socially active, liturgically aware, culturally engaged, and gospel driven disciples, loving God and serving humanity. Our mission is to create compelling environments in which people are developed into totally committed disciples of Christ.”

Tenets of Faith and Doctrine
The Church accepts the Scriptures as the revealed Will of God, the all sufficient rule of faith and practice, and for the purpose of maintaining general unity, adopts these Statements of Fundamental Truths and Doctrine.

The Holy Bible
We believe that the Holy Bible was written by divinely inspired men, that God is its Author, salvation is it’s purpose, and it is truth without any error; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge all mankind; it is the guide and standard for human conduct and the divine standard by which all men will be tried. Scriptural References: 2-Tim. 3:16-17; 2-Pet. 1:21; Prov. 30:5,6; Rom. 2:12; Phil. 3:16;

The One True God
We believe there is only one true and living God, He is the infinite, intelligent Spirit whose name is Jehovah, the creator of Heaven and Earth, Ruler of everything. God is perfect and holy and worthy of all love, trust, honor and praise; that there are three-The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, united in the Godhead; equal, yet distinct but harmonious in executing the wonderful work of redemption. Scriptural References: John 4:24; Ps. 147:5; Ps. 83:18; Ex. 15:11; Mark 12:30; Rev. 4:11; Mat. 28:19-20; John 10:30; Eph. 2:18; 2-Cor. 13:14; Rev. 1:4-5.

The Voluntary Fall of Mankind
We believe that mankind voluntarily fell from the holy state of creation; because of this all mankind are sinners before God and are justifiably condemned to eternal separation from God. Scriptural Reverences: Gen. 1:27; Rom. 5:19; Isa. 53:6; Eze. 18:19-20; Rom. 1:20.
